Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official commented the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
